The St. John Neumann Centre for Migrants and OFW’s
Today, here are almost nine million Filipinos working in 220 countries around the world.
They are known as OFW’s or Overseas Contract Workers.
These people are made to feel particularly welcome at the Shrine of our Mother of Perpetual Help here in Baclaran. Many of them pay a visit to the Shine before leaving the Philippines . And many thousands of them visit the Shrine to give thanks to the Blessed Mother for protecting them while they work abroad.
Here at the Shrine, we offer special services to the OFW’s. The St. John Neumann Centre for Migrants and OFW’s and their families was launched on January 30, 2009.
Every last Friday of the month at 9.30am, a special Mass is celebrated for the workers and their families. The Centre offers counselling and advice for workers and their families. Special counselling is offered to returning workers who find it particularly difficult to adapt to their return, and for those who have been traumatised by unhappy experiences while abroad.
